Mangoes’ a unique name for a TV series, and the serial justifies the name choice by being unique itself. It’s a slice of life story based on the true experiences of those who land up in a foreign land. The lead actors Khurram, Maha and Adeel known as Rakay, Asha and Sami have done an amazing job, by writing and keeping characters true to life. After much appreciation from the audience and over 90,000 Facebook fans, the team of Islotimes got a chance to interview these three main branches of mangoes.

Tell us about yourself?
Love storytelling and want to tell stories through the film medium and reach every sphere of the audience. Don’t want to cater to a small niche through art cinema, but make films which have equal commercial elements and which has a moral. I feel that film is the strongest communication medium, where all the different disciplines of arts are combined together. Talent from writing, photography, art, performance and music combine to create a film.

Gold medalist in Bachelor of Computer Science from IoBM and did MBA from a Canadian University. First job at Geo TV, then after one and a half years started a production company with brother, aptly named SB Productions.
What is Pakistan for you?
Immense potential waiting for proper direction.
How was your experience working in Mangoes?
Life changing. Pushed physical and mental limits. It seems honky dory when it comes on screen, but a lot of hard work goes behind closed doors. Met some amazing people. Got a chance to work with legendary Sir Alamgir. What more can you ask for?
Any person who you would like to work with?
I find Ali Zafar to be incredibly talented and very versatile.
You worked with your brother. What at first was you’re feeling about it?
Working with Adeel is completely natural. It doesn't feel like work, especially during the project’s infacy. We are always bouncing ideas and are honest with our opinions. We really complement each other very well.
Any moment when you were like I am no more part of Mangoes?
Have always felt like a Mango since day 1. There are lows and highs of every project, but if a certain project gives you satisfaction then that is job well done. There are obviously many areas that you improve, but that is part of the learning process. And that is what makes us human, we like always evolving.

You were also one of the main part of Mangoes team. How was your experience working in it?
Being a Mango was absolutely brilliant and a great learning experience. The fans surprised us with their love and involvement, at the end of the day the audience is the best judge of any project, couldn't have asked for more.
You are also and RJ who do you manage all of this stuff?
It is another way of interacting with the audience; love the venues available to interact.
You also worked with the legendary Sir. Alamgir. How was your experience working with them?
Well to sum it all, it is perhaps the best experience I could have asked for. When you meet him and work with him, you get to learn why he is loved by millions, to tell you the truth he is the original Mango, down to earth and REAL.
Best moment while you were working on Mangoes?
The moment ‘Keh Dena’ was released was an all-time high, Kristie Yung paying tribute to legendary Alamgir and we are fortunate to have thought of the idea and then the whole country gripped by Alamgir fever, that helped raise funds for his health, what more could we ask for.
Another moment when the first episode aired, it shows that there is a huge audience that is being undeserved they are the most genuine and tells you as is, if they like what we do they tell us, if they don’t like certain portion they tell us what needs to improve, they are the real Mangoes.
