Different experiences in class system (By Najiha Haqqi)

Hey! Today I just want to share my experience in having breakfast in a driver hotel. I know so many people will judge me like "omg seriously its ewww" , the environment there is so polluted, there are so many cheap people there and so on. I have been to five star hotels like Serena and Marriott, but the life  there was nothing compared to driver hotel. First of all the guy who served us was called "Sufi sahab" with a long beard, and seriously  I can't even describe how humble, sincere, respectful, honest and  friendly he was, it was like all of  these qualities were flowing out of him and everyone was getting entertained by them, the huge sincere smile on his face just made my day. He called me "beta" and asked me what type of egg would I like, at first I asked for half fried egg but then I changed my mind and asked  to serve the egg that all the others usually eat there. While we were waiting for the order I observed the behaviour of the people there, mostly there were men and they had this surprised expression on their face when they saw me, probably thinking what a girl in jeans is doing in a driver hotel. Second of all the environment there was like a community, as everyone was discussing politics and laughing and inviting any other person who would would enter the hotel to their table, not considering  the fact that whether he was a Punjabi or pathan, or what clothes was he wearing and acting as if they know each other for such a long time when mostly its their first time. Shaking hands in the most respectful manner and then putting the same hand to their heart as a sign of respect. While I was busy in noticing everything around me, I saw Sufi sahab coming with parathas and an egg. You guys won't believe how amazing the egg was though it had a little too much of oil but it was amazing ( and trust me I am not exaggerating here). I enjoyed the whole breakfast with pure laughter's in my ear and everything was so pure and real, like no one there was trying to impress the other person, with their manners or how much they have ordered, or leaving a lot of food on the plate to prove how much they can afford and not caring about the food being wasted was not considered to be "cool" or a sign of being "rich". They respected everyone around them and the food, not because they can't afford to eat but because they have higher moral values and know better what's right and wrong as compared to us. I remember once having a dinner in Serena, and I also remember how conscious I was of my manners, I felt like one of those moments when ( I was forcibly  pushed on the stage to sing *as everyone knows how pathetic I am and in case you don't know trust me you don't even want to know* and I was looking at the audience and having  the most horrific and nervous look on my face, and all the audience was screaming  at me "SING SING SING" and I am like nooooooo and runs to the back of the stage while panting) while coming back to the real word I was sitting on the table with a perfect smile plastered on my face, as if I am the most calm person in the universe right now (aah sometimes I feel I should have received Oscar by now for possessing such great acting skills *moving on* ) the topic on the table was education system and politics, trust me I love these kind of discussions and I was really thankful to the male presence of our family , or else leaving behind the females  the topic would have been none other than *drumrolls Spotlight* fashion or judging other people, yeah the two most boring topics of my life *sigh*. While as time passed the food arrived and I grabbed my fork and knife as they are my only weapons to have a world war three with food (especially meat as I am not a fan of meat at all I would rather prefer fresh vegetables) anyways soon my fight with the chicken started on my plate it was just me and her with cowboy music playing at the back, and trust me she proved to be a tough cookie, slipping here and there on my plate, but soon I gave up on her, since I didn't want other people to notice that my chicken was being funny by running out of my plate so I decided to have mercy on her (well writing about chicken here reminds me of the question that why do guys call girls chicken and chicks is it because they have the tendency to run a lot *or is there someting else which i am curious to know about* cause I am sure chickens are not attractive from any angle or are they to guys? Wow never thought about that anyways its something I am really looking forward to find out.*seems like I have a great  tendency to lose my track of what I was talking about my apologies, so coming back to the topic* ). And so I choose  to eat the salad well no doubt it was amazing and she proved to be really friendly and cooperative with me I felt like patting on her back while saying good girl (hahhaha if anyone knew what was going on in my mind right then I am sure they would have advised me to visit a phycologist). I felt so self conscious during the whole time as in sitting with my back straight with my chin high, smiling All the time, not checking my cell phone when it was flooded with messages since its considered to be disrespectful while sitting in a gathering , giving a good impression on all the aunts (you know why- how much I hate doing that I feel so fake and not me I mean why would I like someone to like the fake side of me and then getting shocked when they come out to know the real me). Its funny how we have so much difference all around us, its either we don't realise them or even if we do, there is nothing we do to change them, simply because we think its not affecting us, but you have no idea how deeply its affecting us, our moral values and thinking. Its eating us like a termite eats wood and is weakening our  strength and  grounds. There are so many questions like why can't we sit on the ground and eat with them or invite them on the same table as ours?. Why can't we serve them in the same crockery as we serve our guests? Why can't we give them the same respect and love which we would give  to any other famous or rich person? Just because they can't afford it?. I don't think this justifies the reason of our behaviour towards them. I fear that someday this gap will be so wide that it will be very hard for us to fill that gap, and guess what! we really don't need to do anything in practical to change this difference, all we need to do do is bring change to the top most part of our body yes I am talking about brain here. If only we bring a change in our thinking we can completely rip of the behaviour problems we have towards the poor people. We don't have to help them financially all we need to do, is give them the love and respect they deserve, and I am quite sure they are free and will not affect our bank accounts in any way. Remember how we all wanted a "change" in these elections, I firmly believe it is only us who can bring that change, and the first thing  that's needs to be done is to bring  it in our own thinking and perceptions. I remember how my father once mentioned a true story about his friend back in USA who went bank erupt all of a sudden and ended up  living under a bridge. When he was once asked  about his experience  of the two totally different worlds, he answered "you know what I am living a totally free life, I don't have to worry about paying  my bills or business anymore, or what people think about me. I know I'll get something to eat and so far I am having a peaceful life with no worries" what I am trying to say here is that, some people don't need our financial help all they need is respect, love and care. I just shared my perspective on how I feel, I don't want it to impose this on you, but all I want from you is to at least think about it once. Thank you!

Society

Technology allows us to view each other’s life even if we’re sitting in Antarctica. It has become so fast paced that we hardly get any time to communicate. Granted the new world has invented amazing things, created such fantastic machinery that all stigmas, all negative feedback, all the leg pulling has been silenced once and for all. You can learn new stuff on the internet every day, create programs, websites, sell things, buy clothes, accessories, and so much more. All thanks to technology, human mind at it’s best.
But along the way we have lost quite a lot, and what we have lost can never be replaced by all these gadgets. If there are more options available then so is depression, if there are more doors open, then so is loneliness.
Sitting down by my window, I looked out and saw the sky. It was almost sunset and the usually blue sky was now of a different color. It had rays of pink and orange making their way out, reaching towards the opposite side, as if an eye lid was shutting up. It was a marvelous sight, watching the birds returning home, and the sun setting, following its appointed course. Nature was so beautiful yet it was followed by destruction. That was nature’s course; what came into existence must end so something new, something better can take its place.
I haven’t written in a while, and right now, as I look around I’m trying to capture one train of thought, follow it, see where it goes but I’m losing it. So I’ll try something new. I’ll write down bits of the thoughts coming in my head and see where those lead us.
First thought..Ummm trust. It’s a big thing. Not just a five letter word. It has so much depth in it, so much emotions that once broken, it’s bloody hard to get it back. Lots of relationships require trust like with family, friends, loved ones and even animals. A horse rider can never win a race if his stallion does not trust him, nor can a dog follow orders of its owner if the owner hasn’t won its trust. Our parents have trust in us, which over time either builds up or breaks down. Words of advice, if you can’t cheer someone up, don’t go out of your way to bring them down. If you can’t keep secrets, don’t pretend to know them, or force others to tell you. If you don’t know the power of words, don’t gossip. You can tarnish someone’s reputation and that someone my dear will only be you, how? Well if you can not respect some one else’s life, or privacy, other people listening to you won’t concern them with the third person. Rather they would judge you, your character and your nature; of gossiping and dishing out everything. Second thing, if you have broken someone’s heart, some one’s trust, know this that it will take time to repair it, that is if you want to repair it.
That’s it for now. Hope to bring you more. Stay tuned.

Noor Khokhar Photography (Interview)

Name:  Noor Khokhar
Nickname: Nothing as such. It's just Noor or sometimes Noorie.
DOB : 15th of February.
Favorite dish: Italian and Chinese cuisines are more preferred but anything would be fine.
Give us a brief introduction about yourself?
Well, I am a science student. Art is my passion. Every kind of art in which photography is on the top of the list. Yes, I am someone really unpredictable, no one can ever guess what's gonna happen next and yep I like saying things straight-to-the-shoulder.
Study background?
A Cambridge Student. I'm in my O levels.
Photography as a passion or just a hobby?
Actually both. Photography is my passion as well as my hobby but I don't ever want it to be my profession.
How did you got into photography stuff?
I don't really know but I loved capturing photos and why not do the thing that makes you feel happy and contented?
Who are your inspirations?
To be honest, no one.
What else are your hobbies except photography?
Sketching, painting, shopping, watching football, reading, and writing books as well.
Would you like to have interns with you?
NO.

Who is the one person you would like to do or dying to do photo-shoot of?
There's no such person for whom I'm dying to do a photoshoot of as I am not interested much in fashion photography.
Was photography your passion?
YEP.
In which kind of Photography section do you focus/ have more fun like fashion photo-shoots, outdoor shoots or wedding photo-shoots etc.?
Nature, landscape, still life, indoor and outdoor photography, both.
You got an opportunity to do photo shoot for many magazines and known people in this glamorous industry how was your experience working with them?
I haven't met with such an opportunity yet.
What is important?
1. Good camera
2. Editing skills
3. Good face

None of the above. The skills of the photographer is the thing that counts. If the photographer is fully skilled no matters what camera he is having, if he captures a good photo, there's no need of any kinda editing and lastly if the photographer fulfills all these requirements, no matters if the person in front of the camera is photogenic or not.
Let’s get a bit technical which cameras do you use? And it would be really great if you give a short review about it too?
I use Nikon D3200. It's a digital single lens reflex. Nikon is best for the kind of photography I do whereas Canon is best for the professionals. It is having 24 million effective pixels and the lens I use is the genuine one which is just 18-55 mm.

Who has been most supportive while you were becoming a Photographer mum or dad?
DAD. Mom is always like I should pay more attention and should concentrate on my studies more than this photography thingy.
Any moment when you were like I am the best photograph and you are leaving photography?
Umm, nope!
Which, when, where were the best/interesting events you have covered till now?
The two major events I covered up till now are the one at my school, Beaconhouse, which was the Seerah Conference and other at the Aitchison College, both were superb.
One embarrassing and funny moment while you were on your work?
Not really.
What are the other goals you have?
I want to be a successful scientist, specifically a physicist. This is the biggest goal of my life which I want to achieve at any cost.
Where do you see yourself in next few years?
I see myself as a successful physicist, a scientist, discovering and inventing new things.
Any message for your fans?
As I always say, be yourself. Neither ever be proud of what you are or feel that you are the superior on among everyone nor underestimate yourself. We all are same, we all are equal, it's just the time that's bad, it will pass one day and that day is knocking at your door. GO AHEAD FOR IT!

NAWAZ SHARIF’S GOVERNMENT PLANS TO ALLOW DUTY FREE IMPORT OF HYBRID CARS TO REDUCE CNG USAGE

It is one of those plans which are too good to be true however, Nawaz Sharif’s government will consider allowing duty free import of hybrid cars with engine power of upto 1800cc to discourage the use of CNG vehicles.
Furthermore, the government also plans to ban CNG so that gas can be supplied for domestic and industrial use.
Owners having CNG vehicles will be facilitated to import hybrid cars of upto 1800cc without paying any duty however, duty would be imposed if imported hybrid cars have engines larger than 1800cc.
Toyota Prius would be the most popular choice amongst buyers and Indus Motors had been previously testing a couple of hybrid cars to sell in Pakistan. If duty is removed, than they could penetrate the market with quite ease.
Important thing to mention here that Prius although gives a staggering 36 kmpl mileage, more than double of what Suzuki Mehran gives but the hybrid cars work with a combination of electric batteries and a petrol engine.
Electric batteries work in usually stop-and-go and slow moving traffic, they sort of push you into motion and as you speed up, the car switches to the petrol engine.

Almas Baig - Shutter Life ( Interview )

Name: Almas Baig

Nickname: Hmm.. I don’t I have one…
DOB : 20 March 1994

Favorite dish: Anything but vegetables..

Give us a brief introduction about yourself?
Well, I’m a self-taught photographer doing photography for three years and started it as career about six months ago, facebook addict (bad habit),a student and a friendly person I think…

School Al-Khobar and last Pakistan Int. Jeddah… then I joined Preston Uni. Islamabad but I didn’t like the subject I was studying(computer science) so I left Preston.. now I’m thinking about studying Mass Communication/Media…

Photography as a passion or just a hobby?
For me It’s a passion and a profession…

How did you got into photography stuff?
Hmm... I don’t know, I was watching Evanescence(an American rock band) album photo shoot  and I was like “I should buy a DSLR”… so a year after I bought my first DSLR D3100.. why after a year because I bought it with my own money…
